Beaverbrook Vimy Prize: Announcing the students from Canada, France, England, and Germany selected to participate in the 2026 educational program

The Vimy Foundation is proud to announce the recipients of the 2026 Beaverbrook Vimy Prize. This immersive educational program brings together exceptional youth from Canada, France, England, and Germany to explore the history and legacy of the First and Second World Wars while fostering international understanding, leadership, and remembrance.

From July 31 to August 10, sixteen students, ages 15 to 17, will travel through France and Belgium, visiting significant historical sites, museums, military cemeteries, memorials, and former battlefields. By learning where history unfolded, participants will gain a deeper understanding of the events of both World Wars and the lasting impact they continue to have today.

The 2026 Beaverbrook Vimy Prize recipients are:

  • Grace Myiow — Kahnawake, Quebec
  • Landon Smith — Conway, Prince Edward Island
  • Sarah Tahiry — Saskatoon, Saskatchewan

  • Catherine Pudlat — Kinngait, Nunavut

Throughout the program, students will engage with leading historians and educators while reflecting on the significance of remembrance, reconciliation, and responsible citizenship. Participants will also share daily reflections and experiences through the Beaverbrook Vimy Prize Blog, offering Canadians an opportunity to follow their journey as it unfolds.

The Beaverbrook Vimy Prize challenges students to think critically about the past while developing the skills, perspectives, and connections needed to become thoughtful leaders in their communities and beyond.

About the Beaverbrook Vimy Prize

The Beaverbrook Vimy Prize is a competitive educational program that brings together outstanding youth from Canada, France, England, and Germany for an immersive study tour of the First and Second World Wars. Through visits to historic sites, discussions with experts, and engagement with fellow participants from different countries, students gain a deeper appreciation for history, remembrance, and international cooperation.

Applicants are selected through a rigorous application process that evaluates their academic achievement, community involvement, leadership potential, and commitment to promoting historical understanding.
