Three Youth Projects Selected for 2025 Vimy Inspires Tomorrow Grant

June 2025 – The Vimy Foundation

The Vimy Foundation is proud to announce the three recipients of the 2025 Vimy Inspires Tomorrow (VIT) Grant, awarded annually to youth-led projects that demonstrate community leadership, innovation, and a commitment to making a positive impact. Each winning group will receive a $2,500 grant to bring their vision to life.

The Vimy Inspires Tomorrow program supports youth ages 13–17 through a series of six modules exploring leadership lessons from the First World War. Participants are encouraged to apply those lessons to present-day challenges in their own communities. Following the completion of the modules, participants may submit proposals for community initiatives. Selected projects receive further training in leadership and project management as well as funding to implement their ideas.

This year’s grant recipients reflect a remarkable diversity of interests and causes:

Creators of Tomorrow
Gonzaga High School – St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador

“Creators of Tomorrow is a STEM-based club at Gonzaga High School, St. John’s, NL. Our mission this year is to code, 3D print, and manufacture memory and assistive devices tailored to the needs of seniors. With the help of VIT, Creators of Tomorrow plans to help our communities through science and innovation.”

Led by Alpita Patro, Bridget Burke, Claire Edmunds, Sheza Chowdhury, Joyeeta Goyali, Belle Wiseman, Sydney Swyers, Vaishnavi Devarapalli, Alishba Azrin, and Nawal Adeel, the group aims to harness science and technology for social good.

CreateAbility
Fredericton High School – Fredericton, New Brunswick

“CreateAbility is a nonprofit organization dedicated to cultivating inclusion and empowering youth with intellectual disabilities. We provide supplies, educational resources, and a supportive community that promotes creativity and confidence. Through engaging workshops led by authors and artists, we hope to form meaningful bonds and stimulate growth. Our goal is simple: bring joy to youth and build a positive, lasting impact.”

Led by Fifi Chen and Devangana Sharma, CreateAbility emphasizes inclusive creativity and community-building through arts education.

Greenhouse of Growth
ISNA High School – Mississauga, Ontario

“The Greenhouse of Growth is a school event by the Environmental Stewardship Society focused on building a greenhouse to support our garden. It promotes sustainability, hands-on learning, and community involvement. Students will help with construction, enjoy smoothies, and join creative activities like planting seedlings and painting pots, creating a lasting space for growth, education, and environmental stewardship.”

Led by Numa, Leen, Monsif, Ahmed, Rewa, and Ibrahim, this project blends environmental education with school-wide engagement.

We extend our sincere thanks to Hewitt Foundation, whose generous support fully funds the 2025 Vimy Inspires Tomorrow Grants.

These three projects embody the values of innovation, service, and leadership that the Vimy Foundation seeks to promote through youth education and engagement. We look forward to following their progress as they bring their ideas to life in communities across Canada.

Dogs have been used in war for centuries worldwide. Their duties have ranged from pulling carts, sentries, scouts, messengers, as mascots, rat catchers in the trenches, search and rescue, bomb detectors and first aid dogs. Countless stories of incredible heroic acts performed by these animals have been told throughout the First World War and beyond. Dogs continue to be put to work in military service to this day as their role expands to include service animals for veterans. The Vimy Foundation partnered with Dog Hair INCluded (Montreal) to design these quality and durable bandanas featuring our Vimy Plaid. Honor those four-legged friends who also helped shape our history with this rugged and stylish pet bandana.
