Vimy Memorial: Living Stories
Living Stories, an expansion of the Vimy: A Living Memorial mobile app, allows users to scan the names engraved on the Vimy Memorial and instantly receive detailed biographies, photographs, and additional historical context about the Canadian soldiers commemorated at the site. Their names are transformed from inscriptions into fully realized identities with stories to be shared and remembered. Through an integrated search function, users from anywhere in the world can look up the names of the fallen and access the same wealth of historical information, strengthening links between the past and present.
The Expedition: A Journey Into Commemoration
Available as both mobile and desktop versions, The Expedition is an interactive experience that brings the rich historical context of the site to life through site-specific, geolocated stories with images and sound. It allows users visiting Vimy to better understand the history of the site, while walking in the footsteps of soldiers, nurses and artists that contributed to writing this chapter of our history. For those who would like to visit the site, it is an important digital asset that allows everyone to experience Vimy from anywhere in the world.
